Birth photography is not for everyone, but for those who choose it, it becomes one of the most meaningful ways to remember the day they became a parent.
When I think back to my own labour, it is all a bit of a blur. I know it was intense and emotional, but the details have faded. Birth photography gives you the chance to look back on that day and really see what happened. The support. The strength. The way you brought your baby into the world.
These sessions are documentary in style. I capture things quietly and gently. Nothing is posed. Just real, honest moments as they unfold.
Where I Work
I offer birth photography in Edinburgh, the Lothians and the Scottish Borders.
Whether you’re planning to birth at home, in a birth centre or at hospital, I will work with you to understand your preferences, your space and how I can fit in discreetly and respectfully.

Attendance from active labour until a short time after birth

Pricing
Birth Photography – from £795
A £400 booking fee is required to secure your space. This is non-refundable as I reserve time around your due date so I can be on call for you. The remaining balance is due one month before your estimated due date.
We will pencil in your due date to give us a starting point. I understand that babies arrive when they are ready, and I stay flexible and available within that window.
Payment plans are available. Just ask.
Is Birth Photography Right for You?
It is completely normal to feel unsure about having a photographer present. My role is quiet and respectful. I am not there to direct or take over. I am there to support your story and capture what it means to you.
Birth photography is not about perfect pictures. It is about real memories. The little things. The strength you did not know you had. The people who helped you through it.

“To be a birth photographer you have to be a special kind of person. Of course I already loved Becky’s style of photography from looking at her work online, but a birth photographer also needs to be able to hold calm space around the family and capture moments in a way that they hardly notice. It’s a really skilled job and Becky is an absolute pro.
Becky went “on call” for me for a whole month. Having acted as a birth doula myself I know this is no small task and tiring in itself. You have to navigate your own personal family circumstances while remaining available at any moment to attend. I didn’t appreciate what a big undertaking that is until I had someone doing it for me and checking in on how I was doing. Even as I went past 42 weeks and with significant family events of her own, Becky juggled her diary to still make herself available for the birth and I’m so, so grateful for that.
The icing on the cake- unknown to us, as we had expressed an interest in videoing the birth ourselves, Becky also took video footage and produced the most amazing and emotional birth video. As someone who teaches birth education and hypnobirthing I have watched many of those and share them with my clients to help educate them and imagine what their dream birth scenario would look like. Never did I think I would have one where I am the centre and I’m truly blown away by her thoughtfulness to do this for us. The video speaks for itself.
